Stop Time
Total Time:
The continuous time interval during which the performance of the equipment is considered. E.g. :
24 hours, a week, or a month.
Not Worked Time:
The time interval during which the equipment is not used. E.g.: When there is no need or wish to
produce or no production is planned.
Available Time:
The time during which the necessary line operations for producing packages have been
performed.
Time Outside Production Phase:
The accumulated time interval used for the preparation phase, the after production phase and the
planned maintenance phase. Each phase can include the operating time, the equipment stop time
and the other stop time.
3
Available Production Time:
The time during which the equipment could have been performing a required function if no
equipment or other stop had occurred.
Other Stop Time:
Time within the production phase during which the equipment becomes idle because of reasons
not due to the equipment.
Available Equipment Production Time:
The time during which the equipment could have been performing a required function if no
equipment had occurred.
Equipment Stop Time:
Time within the production phase during which the equipment becomes idle because of reasons
due to the equipment.
Production Time:
The time during which the equipment is performing a primary required function.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) definitions:
1- Total Waste:
Packages In minus Packages Out
2- Machine Mechanical Efficiency (MME) (%):
How well the equipment is working during the available equipment production time
LMME = Line Machine Mechanical Efficiency = covers the whole line filler and DE
MME = Machine Mechanical Efficiency = covers the filler only
LMME/MME = Production Time
MME Prod. =
[Production Time]
[Production Time] + [Equipment Stop Time]
3- Mean Time Between Failures Equipment (MTBF) during Production (hrs):
The mean production time between failures for stop during the production phase caused by the
equipment
MTBF Eq. Prod. =
[Production Time]
[Number of Equipment Stops]
4- Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) all stops during production (hrs):
The mean production time between failures for all stops occurred during the production phase.
MTBF All Prod. =
[Production Time]
[Number of Equipment Stops] + [Number of Other
Stops]
5
5- Mean Time To Restoration Equipment (MTTR) during production (hrs):
The average time the equipment doesn’t operate when a stop caused by the equipment has
occurred during the production phase.
MTTR Eq. Prod. =
[Equipment Stop Time]
[Number of Equipment Stops]
6- Mean Time To Restoration (MTTR) all stops during production (hrs):
The average time the equipment doesn’t operate when a stop occurred during the production
phase.
MTTR All Prod. =
[Equipment Stop Time] + [Other Stop Time]
[Number of Equipment Stops] + [Number of Other Stops]
7- Packaging Material Efficiency (PME) (%):
How well the equipment is using the packaging material during the production phase.
PME =
[Approved Packages Out]
[Approved Packages Out] + [Equipment Stop Waste]
8- Machine Efficiency (ME) (%):
How well the machine is working during the available equipment production time in relation to
its nominal capacity.
ME =
[Approved Packages Out Machine]
[Available Equipment Production Time] × [Nominal Capacity*]
