SUMMARY OF MAJOR CHANGES SINCE 2005
Quality Assurance/Quality Control (6020) was significantly revised to stay abreast of regulatory
requirements and clarify the essential quality control practices for test methods in Part 6000.
A solid-phase microextraction (SPME) method previously added to Constituent Concentration by
Gas Extraction was augmented by a method using gas chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry
(GC/MS/MS), with chemical ionization as the detection system (6040E).
Two methods were included in the new Nitrosamines (6450): one prepares samples via solid-phase
extraction, and the other uses micro liquid–liquid extraction. Both use gas chromatography/mass
spectrometry (GC/MS) as the detection system.
Also, many methods now refer users to the quality control practices that are considered to be an
integral part of the method.
