ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
First and foremost, I would like to thank God for opening the door to my Ph.D.
journey in the United States, and His providences to make this study a reality.
I also had invaluable support from many people throughout the process. I would like
to thank my chair, Dr. Ted Frick for his supportive mentoring throughout my program at
Indiana University that was influential in my professional development as a researcher. I
would also like to thank him for his advice throughout this study that was critical in moving
it forward at each milestone; and also my committee members: Dr. Bob Appelman for
supporting and teaching me about the technicalities of video-recording in classrooms; Dr.
Tom Brush, and Dr. Ginette Delandshere for their many insights and comments that helped
me to develop and mature my conceptualization of this study.
I would also like to thank fellow brethren at the Bloomington Reformed Presbyterian
Church, and Life Bible-Presbyterian Church (Singapore) for their prayer support; and Ms.
Wong Meow Kiat for her help with inter-rater analysis.
Finally, I would also like to thank my parents for their support and love, especially
their patience with my being away from home.
