Bienvenue à la classe de français 4/5 AP Madame Gueren Roy C Ketcham High School (845) 298-5100 ext31034 [email protected] Course Overview - The course is intended for students who have completed 4 or 5 years of French. - It is designed to emphasize the use of language for active communication in authentic settings in order to prepare students for the AP French Language and Culture exam (in May for French 5) - The majority of the class will be conducted in French and the students will be encouraged to use the language as much as possible. - The course will present students with a variety of authentic audio, visual and written documents dealing with various aspects of the French-speaking world. - The students will be provided with many opportunities to improve and practice their listening, reading, speaking and writing skills. - My recommendation for success: Read, Listen, Watch and Speak French in and out of the classroom. Be curious about the French-Speaking world. Open your mind. Please, do not chew gum. Turn off and put electronic devices away. Do not use them in class. The use of electronic translators will result in a 0. Plagiarism, in any form, will result in a 0 as well. Grading Your grade is based on total points. You will be assessed on homework, quizzes and exams, collected work, projects, participation. Absences/make-ups - When you are absent, make sure you keep up with what you are missing; you can check the website (http://www.wappingersschools.org//Domain/1455), e-mail me or get in touch with a classmate. (You can subscribe to the calendar to get homework updates directly on your phone) - You are expected to be prepared when you come back to class (meaning, if there is a quiz, make sure you are prepared for it). Be responsible, take charge of your work and take initiative. - There will be folders in the classroom for when you are absent. - If you fail to complete an assignment, you can make it up for half credit; do so as soon as possible, don’t wait. Extra-help I am available for extra-help, before or after school. You can make an appointment a few days before you plan to stay. We can also arrange to meet during the day.
