PRETERIT EXERCICES CONSTRUCTION D’UNE PHRASE INTERROGATIVE AU PRETERIT Importance de l’auxiliaire WAS / WERE ou DID • On utilise DID dans une phrase qui comporte un verbe d’action • On utilise WAS avec un temps composé (be + ing / be + participe passé). WERE est le pluriel de WAS. • C’est toujours l’auxiliaire qui prend la marque du temps. Le verbe restera donc toujours à la base verbale. Exemple : 1. Did all Europeans celebrate Halloween ? 2. Why did the Celts celebrate Halloween ? 3. Were young kids scared of witches and ghosts ? CONSTRUCTION D’UNE PHRASE NEGATIVE AU PRETERIT Même remarque que ci-dessus. L’utilisation de l’auxiliaire est important. • On lui ajoutera la négation NOT WASN’T / WEREN’T ou DIDN’T. • L’auxiliaire prend la marque du temps ; le verbe d’action reste donc à la base verbale. Exemple : 1. French people didn’t celebrate Halloween in the past. 2. Halloween wasn’t a common celebration in France in the past. 3. Children weren’t scared of ghosts.
