« Cancer Immunotherapies » Context Cancer immunotherapies mark an entirely different way of treating cancer, instead of targeting the tumor itself, they harness the immune system to fight cancer. Labeled “Top Scientific Breakthrough of the year” by Science magazine in 2013, cancer immunotherapies are generating considerable excitement among researchers and physicians. Although significant challenges remain regarding the translation of novel treatments into therapies suitable for widespread clinical adoption, cancer immunotherapies are one of the most promising advancements for the treatment of cancer and analysts predict that within the next ten years, they will constitute 60% of all cancer treatments. The event on “Cancer Immunotherapies” organized by the BIOPARK Formation in collaboration with the Centre de formation Santé aims at presenting to a broad audience of physicians and researchers the most promising cancer immunotherapy strategies as well as clinical results obtained in this field in Belgium and neighbouring countries. Format This event is composed of 2 parts: - The symposium (in English) will present the most promising cancer immunotherapy strategies as well as clinical results obtained in this field in Belgium and neighbouring countries. - Training modules (in French) will be organized before the Symposium in order to allow nonimmunologists to acquire the basic knowledge in general immunology and anti-tumoral immunity Target audience Professionnels from the medical and biomedical sector: • • • • • • Physicians Researchers Students, PhD sutdents Professors Communication officer Medical staff 1.
