Cette collection acquise par le musée des sciences et de la technologie du Canada en 1992 documente la culture matérielle de l’histoire de l’électricité et ses usages. Avant d’appartenir à la collection d’Hydro Ontario, ce compteur provenait de l’Université de Toronto, plus précisément du département de génie électrique. Vers la fin du 19e siècle, début 20e siècle, les départements d’ingénierie et de physique de l’université acquérir d’importantes collections d’instruments scientifiques et d’anciens instruments électriques. Une partie de la collection est demeurée à l’université et une autre a été transférée à Hydro Ontario grâce à E. S. Lincoln. Edwin Stoddard Lincoln (1885- ?), un ingénieur électrique, consultant et écrivain de nombreux livres sur l’électricité, a été engagé par T.E. Dietrich en 1964 pour l’aider à localiser des artefacts électriques d’importance aux Etats-Unis. Lincoln transféra sa collection à Hydro-Ontario vers 1965 pour la somme de un dollars. Meter made and used in Canada Part of the Ontario Hydro Collection. This collection was acquired by the CSTM in 1992. It documents the material culture of the history of electricity and its uses. Before being part of the Ontario Hydro collection, this meter came from the University of Toronto, more precisely from the electrical engineering department. At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th c. the UofT engineering and physics departments acquired important collections of scientific and early electric instruments. A part of these collections were transferred to the OH in the 1960s, and remaining artifacts are still preserved at the UofT. It has been acquired for the collection by E.S. Lincoln. Edwin Stoddard Lincoln (1885-?) was an electrical engineer, a consultant and an author of several books on electricity. T.E. Dietrich hired him in 1964 to assist in locating important electrical artifacts in the U.S. Lincoln transferred his own collection to the OH museum in the mid-1960s for $1.00.
