The Astronomy Technology Research Group, Penticton (ATRG-P) at the NRC Herzberg Institute
of Astrophysics’ (NRC-HIA) Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory (DRAO) is searching for
an outstanding researcher in observational radio astronomy. The successful candidate will be
expected to play a leading role in science planning, promotion and leadership related to the radio
telescope instrumentation being developed by the ATRG-P as part of NRC-HIA's commitment to
the Long Range Plan (LRP) for Canadian astronomy. Specifically, these projects are the
Expanded Very Large Array (EVLA) correlator, the Milurea International Radio Array (MIRA)
Square Kilometre Array (SKA) demonstrator, and ultimately the SKA. This will require working
with both Canadian and international astronomy colleagues, with industry, and the strong team of
scientists, engineers, technologists and support staff at DRAO to provide world-class
astronomical instruments and facilities for Canadian astronomers. In addition, the successful
candidate will be expected to maintain a vigorous astrophysical research programme

Le Groupe de recherches en technologie astronomique de Penticton (GRTA-P) de l’Observatoire
fédéral de radioastrophysique (OFR) de l’Institut Herzberg d’astrophysique du CNRC (IHACNRC) est à la recherche d’un€ chercheur(euse) exceptionnel(le) en radioastronomie
d’observation. La personne choisie sera appelée à jouer un rôle de premier plan en planification,
en promotion et en leadership scientifique liés à l’instrumentation pour les radiotélescopes en
voie de développement par le GRTA-P dans le cadre de l’engagement de l’IHA-CNRC envers le
plan à long terme pour l’astronomie canadienne. En particulier, ces projets sont le corrélateur du
très grand réseau élargi (EVLA), le démonstrateur du réseau d’un kilomètre carré (SKA) du
réseau radioastronomique international de Milurea (MIRA), et, en fin de compte, le SKA. Cette
responsabilité exige la collaboration avec des collègues astronomes canadiens et internationaux,
avec l’industrie, et la forte équipe de chercheurs, d’ingénieurs, de technologues et de personnel
de soutien à l’OFR, pour fournir des instruments et des installations astronomiques de catégorie
internationale pour les astronomes canadiens. De plus, elle sera appelée à maintenir un
programme de recherche vigoureux en astrophysique.
